What is the Beetle chair made of?
The shell and the base are chosen separately, so it depends on the version.
The shell is plastic. It comes un-upholstered, as a veneer shell, or upholstered in fabric or leather - seat upholstered, front upholstered or fully upholstered. The un-upholstered shell is available in a range of RAL colours.
The base is metal, wood or plastic. The finishes are listed below.
How is the Beetle seat height measured?
The seat is curved, not flat. The seat height is measured at the back of the seat, in the middle. The height itself varies by model and by upholstery, so it has to be looked up for the specific chair.
What weight can a Beetle or Bat chair hold?
The maximum load varies by model and base. Our order team (order@gubi.com) has the load rating for a specific Beetle or Bat.
Can the un-upholstered Beetle shell be cleaned with sanitiser?
Yes. The un-upholstered Beetle shell is approved for sanitiser.
Do the Beetle and Bat meeting chairs swivel?
It depends on the base. The model with castors has a fixed column. The model with glides has a swivel column.
Can Beetle chairs be stacked?
Yes - but only the stackable version of the Beetle Dining Chair. Up to 4 fully upholstered chairs, or 8 un-upholstered chairs, can be stacked.
The other versions of the Beetle Dining Chair are not stackable.
Which base finishes does the Beetle Dining Chair come in?
The base comes in three types: metal, wood and plastic.
Metal bases include matt black, chrome, black chrome, antique brass and semi matt brass. Wood bases include lacquered oak, smoked oak, American walnut and black stained beech. Plastic bases include black, beige and alabaster white.
The Beetle is not offered in teak.
Not every finish is available on every version of the chair, and this is not a complete list of every colour. For a specific combination, tell us which base type you are interested in; our order team (order@gubi.com) can confirm it.
If you are considering an upholstered version, we recommend avoiding delicate fabrics such as velvet: stacking can leave pressure marks in the upholstery.
Which felt glides fit the Beetle Dining Chair?
It depends on the base. Both are on the spare parts page (gubi.com/en/dk/categories/accessories/spare-parts): for a wood base, GUBI Glide, Beetle/Bat (Felt; Wood Base); for a conic base, GUBI Glide, Violin/Sejour/Beetle/Bat (Conic/Swivel Base). Each package holds one glide.
Can I get spare parts for this collection?
We do not publish which spare parts exist for a particular product, so this page cannot tell you whether one is available for yours. The spare parts page in our webshop (gubi.com/en/dk/categories/accessories/spare-parts) is the current list, and within the EU you can order from it directly.
