COM/COL ordering process

If you want to use your own fabric (COM) or leather (COL) for a GUBI product, the ordering process has additional steps compared to a standard order. See Customer's Own Material or Leather (COM/COL) for the full process, including testing paths, fees, and shipping requirements.

Summary of the ordering flow

  1. Email order@gubi.com with the product, your fabric specification (including a supplier link), quantity, and project scope
  2. Submit a 100 cm × 100 cm test sample — DDP to the address GUBI confirms (never to GUBI HQ)
  3. Wait for written Suitability Approval (5–7 business days from sample arrival at factory)
  4. Calculate full yardage using the Upholstery Consumption sheet (shared with your Order Confirmation)
  5. Place your PO and ship your fabric — one roll per PO, labelled with the GUBI-provided label, DDP
  6. Production begins once material is received and approved. Production time runs from that point, not from the order date.

Testing fees

  • Standard COM/COL: $90 — you ship the test sample yourself
  • GUBI-Preferred Vendor: $120 — GUBI sources the test sample from your vendor on your behalf
  • Recommended by GUBI: No fee — already pre-approved in the GUBI assortment

COM/COL orders are treated as made-to-order: they are non-refundable and production times are longer than for standard upholstery orders. Fire-code compliance is your responsibility.
